We Started With One Question
Back in 2019, a small group of us sat around a coffee-stained table in downtown Toronto wondering why investment education felt so detached from reality. Everyone seemed to be teaching theory without showing how real portfolios actually work.
That frustration turned into Legitimax. We built this because we needed it ourselves — a place where people could learn about investing without the usual smoke and mirrors. No promises about getting rich. Just honest guidance about building financial knowledge step by step.
These days, we work with folks across Canada who want to understand markets better. Some are complete beginners. Others have been investing for years but want to sharpen their approach. What they share is a desire to make informed decisions rather than following trends blindly.
How We Actually Teach
Our method comes from years of trial and error. We focus on building understanding through real examples rather than abstract concepts.
Case Study Framework
Every concept gets paired with actual market scenarios. You'll see how different strategies played out during the 2020 volatility, the 2022 corrections, and the recovery patterns of 2024. We dissect real portfolio decisions so you understand the reasoning behind each move.
Progressive Complexity
We don't throw everything at you on day one. Our curriculum starts with foundational principles, then gradually introduces more nuanced topics. By the time you're analyzing sector rotations or evaluating risk-adjusted returns, you've already built the mental models to handle them.
Canadian Market Focus
Most investing content defaults to American examples. We specifically address TSX dynamics, TFSA and RRSP strategies, currency considerations, and the specific characteristics of Canadian sectors like energy, financials, and resources. Your investing reality deserves relevant education.
Kieran Bjornstad
Kieran spent twelve years analyzing equity markets before shifting to education. He believes understanding market psychology matters as much as reading balance sheets, and his teaching reflects that balance between quantitative and behavioral perspectives.
Teaching Real People
Our instructors come from actual finance careers. They've managed portfolios through bull and bear markets. They've made mistakes and learned from them. That experience shapes how we teach — with humility and practical insight rather than theoretical perfection.
We don't claim to have all the answers. Markets surprise everyone sometimes. What we offer is a structured way to think about investing decisions, backed by decades of combined experience watching how different approaches perform over time.
The students who benefit most from our programs are those ready to invest time in genuine learning. Our fall 2025 cohorts will focus on portfolio construction fundamentals and market analysis techniques. We're accepting applications through June for programs starting in September and October.
Ready to Learn Differently?
Our next program cycle opens for enrollment in August 2025. If you're interested in developing a deeper understanding of investment principles, reach out to discuss whether our approach fits your learning goals.
